Looking for an afterschool program in Ditmas Park that's more than just childcare? Viva Art Studio's afterschool program gives kids in grades K–5 a creative home base when the school day ends with direct school pickup, snack time, homework help, a fun daily Spanish mini-lesson, and hands-on art in our sunny art strudio on Newkirk Ave.

Every session explores a new art form collage, mixed media, painting, drawing, printmaking, watercolors, and portrait work — while kids naturally pick up Spanish vocabulary along the way. No Spanish (or art experience) required.

We Pick Up Directly From Local Kensignton and Ditmas Park, Brooklyn Schools

Our instructors walk students from dismissal straight to the studio.

 

We currently offer pickup: 

Monday - Friday: PS 139, PS 217, and PS 889

Wednesdays: PS230

Thursdays: PS130 (Upper)

What an Afternoon Looks Like

 2:20pm – Pickup & welcome. We walk your :child f:rom school to the studio, take attendance, and settle in with a nut-free snack (packed from home), free drawing, or homework help.

3:30 -3:40pm– Spanish mini-lesson. Vocabulary and spelling through hands-on activities and games — always light and fun.

 

4:00 – Art class. The heart of the afternoon: a guided project in that week's medium.

 

5:20 – Wrap-up & reflection. Kids share what they made (and practice a little Spanish!) before 5:30 pickup.

Schedule Notes

We follow the NYC DOE school calendar, so there's no afterschool on school closure days. On half days, we run early-dismissal camps from 11:30am–5:30pm
